Adult ballet/jazz/modern classes vs. private lessons?
Mar 15th
I am looking to start dancing ballroom soon but I also want to do ballet, jazz, and modern dance. I am serious about it and would like to be very good. I am not looking for just a casual class at all. I want to go to a serious school that will help me reach my fullest potential. I am 21 years old and I am just wondering if there is a huge difference between taking adult dance classes and just taking private lessons. I have heard that adult dance classes aren’t as intense and if you want to get better you should do private lessons to have more one-on-one time with the instructor. If you have any opinion or info on this please let me know. I need someone that can help me progress because I haven’t been in dance since I did jazz when I was 16. As of right now I am leaning towards the private lessons but I would also like to hear what everyone else thinks.

Once your child hits preschool, chances are the start to wonder what activities you should get them involved in. There are tons of youth activities, which are very useful for the growth of your child. Many parents are turning to youth football, soccer, T-Ball and other sports activities. Not all children love sports and not all parents feel comfortable exposing their babies to the aggressive nature of these activities.
Physical: Children who participate in dance classes are always active. Dance, no matter what style, helps children build endurance, strengthen muscles and increase flexibility. Dancing also teaches children to appreciate and take care of your body. Raising healthy these values in your child while they are young can have long-term positive effect.
Friendship / socialization: Dancing allow your son or daughter to communicate with their peers in a positive manner. Entry into these events with like-minded people will give them the experience of connection that will last a lifetime. Children who really enjoy the dance will most likely eventually grow together as performers.
Confessions of art: Dance is not limited to a series of movements performed to music, but it is much more. Different styles of dance under the influence of different cultures. Dancing will keep your children from several cultures and artistic movements throughout history.
Coordination: enrolling your son or daughter in dance classes will help them acquire a keen sense of coordination. Coordination is needed in the world of dance. Children are better able to pick up and retain the skills that they learn at an early age, so the skill of dance becomes second nature for your child. It can also be an advantage, as your child grows up and decides to pursue other activities like sports.
Creativity: Dance will help your child get in touch with their creative sides, exposing them to the art of many cultures, offering a wide range of creative influences. Involving them in this kind of instruction so young will help them hone their own skills, which may lead them to a lifelong hobby or even to their dream career.

Beginner Dance Classes?
Feb 4th
I’ve always wanted to learn to dance (like real dancing) and I’m thinking about signing up for a dance class either through the university (as a 100-level class) or through the gym. I’ve never taken any dancing lessons and I’m not that fit or flexible (I’m working on that), so I’m wondering how tough these would be. The ones I’m looking at are hip hop, jazz, and latin/swing/ballroom. Which one would be best for a beginner? Or would they all be ok since they’re beginner classes?
