Last Dec. 20, 2009, a fun-filled fundraiser, “Have a Merry Cheryl Christmas!” Dance for a Cause with “Dancing with the Stars” champion, Cheryl Burke, and special guest star, “Dancing with the Stars” champion, Mark Ballas, spread holiday cheer with a dance lesson, auction items, photo opportunities with the fundraiser’s attendees — and their dances: the Argentinian Tango and Michael Jackson’s PYT— at the Cheryl Burke Dance Studio in San Francisco, CA. The fundraiser was a labor of love spearheaded by Cheryl Burke and her mother, Sherri Burke, the Philippine Disaster Relief Coalition, the Philippine Consulate General – San Francisco, Ayala Foundation USA, ABS-CBN Sagip Kapamilya Foundation, and numerous volunteers (many of the young adults had been recruited by Ben Menor, community development organizer and event management specialist). Sherri Burke “volunteered” me to be the tight program’s timekeeper. Balancing a digital camera, Flip video camcorder, my program sheet, and pen was truly a stage manager’s dream come true. So, here is the short video I created as a Happy Holidays gift to you all — especially those who love ballroom dancing! It’s true! FUNKMODE completed our first international tour in the Summer of 2009. One of the many cool things we did was hold one of our Music Video Camps with a cool crop of Singaporean children. Every one of them was absolutely awesome and we had a fantastic time. We are so incredibly lucky to get to do work like this. You know how it goes by now … 5 days, 15 hours, become an instant internet star! They chose this song since it was blowin up the charts in Asia (and pretty much the whole world) at the moment we arrived. Most of this footage was shot at and around the YMCA International building where we held our classes. The weather each day was typical tropical Singapore, 86 degrees Fahrenheit with 95% humidity. Yeah, you read right. So give these kids extra props when you watch the scenes where they dance in the streets. The kids ranged in age from 5 to 17 with some dancing for the first time while others had already been at it for years. Each had something special and significant to contribute and we pushed to get the best out of each of them here for you. They were a very silly and fun bunch so we had an excellent week together making this mini-masterpiece. They all hope …

After a year of tutelage, he earned a position as dance captain in her performance company, the American Dance Theater of New Jersey. While performing and choreographing throughout NJ, Adrian auditioned to become a company member and choreographer for Culture Shock, NY, an international hip-hop dance company with chapters across the US, Canada, and the UK.
