MEET CHESLEY TOLENTINO Chesley Tolentino was born and raised in Fremont, California where she began dancing at the age of four. She trained in ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, Tahitian, ballroom, and Filipino folk dancing at Mission Dance and Performing Arts and Yoko’s Dance and Performing Arts. But among these dance styles she fell in love with hip hop, and has since pursued it with great passion. She joined Funksters in 2006 and trained under many of Funkanometry SF’s choreographers including Emerson Aquino, Mariel Martin, and Kyle Hanagami. Training with such talented people inspired and motivated her even more to pursue hip hop and she also continued training with Future Shock San Jose before leaving to San Diego for school. In the fall of 2008, she joined 220 and is currently in her second year on the team. Since then, she has gone back to teach at Future Shock San Jose and Step2This dance studio in Fremont, but she has also taught at PGN’s (Funkbrella) Company Class, UCSD’s Hip Hop Recreation classes, and continues to share her choreography with her beloved team. 220 has given her the confidence to expand and explore her potential while constantly motivating her to be a better dancer. Her unique dance style has been influenced by all her previous dance experiences, and she would like to thank everyone who has inspired and supported her to be the dancer she is today.
