Can You Learn to Dance From Dvds?
0
Many great and famous dancers and choreographers have released a dance video or dance DVD teaching their dance moves and dance routines. Are dance videos and dance DVDs the best way of learning to dance?
Well 1 thing’s for sure, many people are grateful for such videos because there aren’t a lot of opportunities to learn to dance where they are. Imagine living in a small rural village and wanting to learn break dancing or urban dance moves. Next to impossible!
These dance DVDs/ videos make these moves accessible to people who would otherwise only have the chance to learn them if they moved out of their hometown. This is why sites such as YouTube are so great! The difference of course is that the tutorials on YouTube are usually short whereas a dance DVD will usually cover quite a bit of ground.
Dance DVDs are also great because once you have it, you have it. You can watch it over and over again as you have the teacher in your home. All you have to do is practise the dance moves! And we all know that practise makes perfect.
Dance DVDs and videos also are great value for money, you pay once and you can take the class over and over again. For people who are really pushed for money, they can make a great investment. It is possible to get a great DVD with a great choreographer or teacher who would be hard to get hold of in real life.
The thing to remember with dance DVDs is that they can never replace a real-life, real world dance training. It’s just one dance lesson. A DVD cannot cover everything or provide the ongoing training needed to become a better dancer. A great hip-hop dancer for example has most likely taken hundreds of dance classes.
The big difference really is in the ongoing training. If you are looking into buying a dance DVD, it’s probably good to buy a DVD that teaches the techniques and basics and not just dance routines. A dance routine is good to have on a DVD, but it’s better if it’s combined with lots of break-downs of techniques. Certain basics which you can practise and get better with time.
Also don’t go easy on yourself just because you’re learning from a DVD. Don’t say, “I’ll watch 20 minutes now, then I’ll watch some TV then maybe watch another 15 minutes of the DVD.” Actually participate and take the class in the DVD like you would in real life. Practise slow then at full tempo with the music, don’t just practise really slowly.
If you do buy a dance DVD the most important thing is to actually do the exercises and routines being taught in the videos! If you just watch it, you won’t get much benefit apart from becoming more knowledgeable. You probably want to actually be able to do the dance moves in the videos, not just be knowledgeable about them.
If you really want to learn a certain style of dance or you find a great choreographer or dancer you want to learn from then by all means buy their dance video. But where possible, also try and attend real-life dance classes and dance workshops when you can and you’ll find that you’ll be making even faster progress.

how do i ask a friend if he would be interested in being my dance buddy for ballroom dance lessons?
3This is a male acquaintence or new friend that I get along well with and would like to include in my circle of interaction on a regular basis. At the same time, I would like to attend the dance class knowing that I have a dance partner and not have to settle for someone allocated by the dance instructors. I do not have any romantic inclination towards my friend or expect any developement. The classes will be weekly, for four weeks, just to test out if I enjoy pursuing ballroom dancing.

My Experience With Brantford Swing Dance Lessons
0
I know many people join Brantford swing dance classes with the hope of finding Mr/Miss Perfect for them. In fact, I was one of them a few months ago. To tell you the truth, I am one of those people who get depressed if theyâre single. So, I have grown up always having a girlfriend. I was never single until I came to Brantford last year. I was so busy with my work, that I barely found time to go out and try to find a girlfriend. Also, I wasnât really in the mood to try to find a girl at the bar scene. Been there, done that. I donât really want to do it again. It was fun when I was 22. But, Iâve grown and want to find someone a little more mature.
Three months ago, my friend Mike suggested that I should live a life beyond work and try finding a girlfriend. Considering the fact that I was stuck in the rut of my work life, I thought I should do something to catch up with the fun side of my life. So, I decided to sign up for Brantford swing dance lessons.
The âBrantford swing danceâ idea was actually an offshoot of my incorrigible inclination towards learning dance. I have had this weakness to learn new steps and experiment with different rhythm patterns. The lonely man within me was hopeful that I could find a date for myself in the process. So, I decided that âBrantford swing dance lessonsâ wasnât a bad idea at all. I enrolled in Brantford swing dance lessons and started getting along with a few of the other students there. After three months, I realized that most of my Brantford swing dance mates were serious about Brantford swing dancing and werenât really looking to find a date. I was enjoying the Brantford swing dancing, but I realized that I wasnât going to find a date at these lessons. I decided that I should look beyond the Brantford swing dance lessons for finding prospective dates.
My close colleagues at work suggested that I should try online dating. I tried it, and it seems to be working. I am going on a few dates every week with really nice women. Iâm actually enjoying the whole process. I can tell you that online dating is the most effective way to find your prospective partner. You can meet a ton of people, and theyâre all single.
Does anyone know a good place to take dance lessons, particularly ballroom dancing in Dallas/Ft.Worth?
2I really enjoy dancing, but I have been out of practice for some time and I want to start dancing again, mostly for the exercise…i am looking for a good place to attend beginner dance classes in the dallas/ft.worth area. I have searched online, but I was wondering if I could get feedback from those of you who have dancing experience or who currently attend classes. I would like to attend classes with other beginners.
